2 Years ago today my favorite broodmare, The Nurse, gave me a beauty of a perlino filly. Her sire is my GCh Intolerable Acts, and we gave the little girl the name "Controverisal."
Today, she turned two, and just as with all my other 2 year olds, she began exercise work to get her fit for starting saddle work.
I always knew she was going to be special, but she really just blew me away. When we started work this month, overall she was rated as very poor to fair. In just 8 days she peaked her movement, in just another week more she peaked in stamina and strength, another week and she peaked speed, and the last week she peaked in intelligence, surefoot, and agility! Such a young filly reaching her fittest in just under one month? I have never seen this, not even with my beloved girl GCh Prescription For Sunlight. (Controversial's half sister)
You can see her strutting around her paddock here. I hardly even notice her toes pointing out a little....
Next month I will attempt to ride her. I am beyond excited. I haven't picked a match for The Nurse next season, so I think I will just have to breed her back to GCh Intolerable Acts for full sibling. Maybe a colt this time? That would be perfect.
The Gaited and Cutting rings had better watch out!
CC she is amazing! What a perfect specimen and with Iyudaliha lines to boot! I would repeat that breeding for sure.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I am so happy this IYU cross worked out. I myself purchased two IYU mares, The Wrong Alice and Silent Daybreak, but whenever I would make a cross with them close together in the pedigree I would end up with a dud. Their genetics just didn't like each other. Hot Lips was owned by Thaya, but her genetics are mixing really well with mine so far!
ReplyDeleteAs soon as The Nurse is in heat I will be breeding her back to Intolerable Acts!
Unfortunately, she didn't catch this season. Will try again next spring!
