Putting Together A Contest Idea

Hello all,

I have been mulling over this idea for an in-game contest for a while now, and I would like some commentary.

My idea: "Extreme Local Stock Makeover." Like the RL Extreme Mustang Makeover.

How I am thinking it should work:
First, create a commons thread, see if people are interested. I trade for a GC to purchase a bunch of LS imports, import all in same GM, vet and feed, but do not session in any way. Separate them by age. Either show them in the thread and let people pick a few horses they would like to work with, then randomly assign horses to players based on choices, or just randomly assign horses to players. Lease horses out for ~5 game years.
Just like the RL makeover, the goal here is to take the wild LS, ground train it, saddle break it, exercise it, groom it, and then teach it a bunch of cool "tricks". Since we cannot literally teach the LS tricks on E-R, I mean tricks by teaching them a bunch of the "discipline" level moves.
At the end of the 5 years, (or whatever time we designate, I know those LS are pretty wild) stop training, pick a show category and 2 classes for all LS to be entered in in the fun shows. Separate by horse age. Do this for several days, keeping track of the higher scoring horses in each event. Assign them points in some way.
After all eventing is done (we could literally go through all events/classes for fun) tally up assigned points. Give out prizes, and the option to keep the horse.

My Goals for this:
1. I want to designate 2 main groups for this, experienced and non-experienced trainers. I would classify experienced as being a player who frequently hand trains and/or shows. I want this to encourage players who do not show much, or newbies, to show.
2. Fun.

Well, that's all I got for now. Thoughts? Comments? Ideas?

  1. I think this is really interesting. I like the idea a lot, but I'm not sure how well it would work out in practice.

But, if you did decide to do something like this I would love to get involved! Seems like a cool new challenge!

  2. I have a feeling we might run into a few bumps if we do this. However, it could be real fun and hopefully would encourage more players to show.

I may try and get something started this summer.
